Man Steal Gas From City Of Newport
Newport police are looking for a man who is accused of stealing gas from the City of Newport. Two city employees, Ricky Gregg and Clayton Ellison say they were mowing along Cosby Hwy Wednesday when a man identified as 38 year old John sweet asked them if he could have the gas meant for the city’s mowers. Both men told sweet no. However, when they returned to their city truck, they found the 5 gallon gas jug was gone. Later that day, Gregg and Ellison say they had their truck parked on the side of the building at Brock’s Market on east Hwy 25/70. They walked out in time to see the same man, John Sweet putting that 5-gallon gasoline container back in their truck…of course it was empty. No arrest has been made at this time.
