Man Threatens Two People With Hammer

One man was arrested early Saturday morning in Newport after threatening two people with a hammer. It happened in the area of Cope Blvd and Hwy 25/70 around 3:30 am. Jerrod Martin and Candace Foster told police that 57 year old Steven Craig had approached them about a speaker that Craig thought Martin was in possession of. An argument began and at one point, Steven Craig raised a hammer above his head and attempted to strike both victims. Craig was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault.
