Man with Three Felony Warrants Arrested

On Friday (2/6), Newport police were contacted by the Jefferson City Police Department that a man wanted on numerous theft charges was heading into Newport City limits. A flock camera spotted the 51 year old Roy Haywood entering the city limits. Haywood was wanted and had three felony warrants in Jefferson County. Felony theft being over $1,000. Haywood was also wanted on a misdemeanor theft charge in Hamblen County as well as two capias warrants in Cocke County. Haywood was pulled over in front of the Dollar General Store at the intersection of East Hwy 25/70 and Hwy 73. He was taken into custody without incident.
