Mass Notification System Coming To Cocke County
A mass notification system in case of emergencies is coming to Cocke County. Emergency Management Director Joe Esway announced on Friday that after several months of research, meetings and training that the county will unveil the new service that will be provided by “Hyper-Reach”. Esway says they chose this service because it does several things including landline service for areas with unreliable cellular service. Hyper-Reach sends cell phone notifications to not just residents but to those traveling through the county. Emergency Action Messages can be targeted to a specific geographical location within the county. Esway says there are no signup costs required and phone plans will not be billed.
A 5-step plan has been developed, aiming to inform county residents of the implementation of the new system. That includes meetings with elected leaders…as Joe Esway spoke at the CLB meeting last Monday about the new system. There will also be social media campaigns and scheduled training events. Plus, Director Esway will be in Wednesday morning with Cody on the Early Show on 92.3 WNPC to discuss the new system.
