Massive Cheese Recall Includes Local Stores
You may want to check your refrigerator if you use shredded cheese. The Great Lakes Cheese Co., based in Ohio, makes cheese products that are sold under a host of different brand names. The massive recall includes 31 states, including Tennessee.
Two of the brands that have shredded cheese in this recall are Food Club, which is sold at Food City and Great Value sold at Wal-Mart.
The Food Club cheese in the recall are Finely Shredded, Shredded, Finely Shredded Pizza Style Four Cheese Blend and Pizza Style Two Cheese Blend- Finely Shredded.
Great Value cheeses in the recall are Finely Shredded, Shredded, Italian Style – Finely Shredded and Provolone & Mozzarella Blend – Shredded
The recalled cheese products could contain metal fragments. The recall was issued back in October, but just this week, the FDA reclassified it to a Class II recall…one step below the highest level. The metal fragments in the affected cheese products could result in serious internal injuries.
If you have any of the cheeses included in the recall, take them back to the store where you bought them to get a full refund.
