McCarter Announces Candidacy For County Mayor

Cocke County now has another candidate for County Mayor. On Thursday, Michael A. McCarter announced his candidacy for the office of Cocke County Mayor. McCarter has served in local politics before…being elected to the Cocke County Commission back originally in 1998. McCarter has also worked in the legal profession, working as Public Information Officer for the Sheriff’s department and also as a Probation officer. In 2012, McCarter took a job in marketing at Ole Smokey in Gatlinburg. He has watched that company grow from 25 employees to 800 in the last 10 years.

McCarter in running on the republican ticket. He joins current Cocke County Trustee Rob Mathis and Clay Blazer in the race to replace outgoing county mayor Crystal Ottinger this year.
