More Auto Thefts In Morristown
Back a couple weeks ago, the Morristown Police Department put out an advisory to residents, not just in Morristown, but in surrounding areas…to not leave your car running unattended. A rash of car thefts have happened because people have been going out and starting their cars then going back in the house for a few minutes. Some people pull up to a store, go in and leave their car running…they come out a minute later to a car that is no longer there.
It seems citizens have not been listening to the warnings, as over the last week, around a half a dozen car thefts have been reported involving those circumstances. One of those vehicles was later recovered in Grainger County after the thief used a debit card that had been left in the car at a Grainger County convenience store.
Just a reminder, never leave your car running and unattended. Always take your keys with you. One car was stolen because the man shut his car off but left his key in the car.
