Morristown Wins Tree City Award
Everything is starting to bloom, trees are getting their leaves…and the city of Morristown wins another award. The City of Morristown has, for the 20th year, been awarded the Tree City Award from the Arbor Day Foundation. According to the city of Morristown, the award comes from the hard work and effort of the Morristown Tree Board, staff, and community volunteers.
The Tree City USA program was founded in 1976 to celebrate cities that were committed to growing their urban tree canopy. In partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, USDA Forest Service and the National Associate of State Foresters, the program provides communities with the foundation to manage and expand their tree cover. The City enrolled in this program and for over two decades has made concentrated efforts to plant and maintain an abundant tree canopy in Morristown.
