National Drug Take Back Day April 25

The date for National Drug Take Back Day has been announced. That date is Saturday, April 25. The Newport Police Department will be set up at Wal-Mart on Cosby Hwy from 10am-2pm that day. During the drug take back event, you can drop off any unwanted or expired medications you may have on hand, no questions asked. Items that will NOT be accepted:

Illegal drugs/paraphernalia

Syringes/ needles

Items used to collect blood

Diabetic materials ( such as Lancets and auto injectors)

According to the Drug Enforcement Agency, during the last National Drugs Take Back day in October of 2025, 4,263 law enforcement agencies from around the country took in 286 Tons…or just over 571,000 lbs of unwanted drugs.
