Newport Animal Control Begins Move To New Location

The Newport Animal Shelter is closed today and will remain closed through the end of next week, so they will not be taking in any animals. The shelter is starting the process of moving to another location until a new facility can be built in the Industrial Drive area. The shelter is being forced to move to another location due to problems with the roof in their current building. Director of Animal Control, Lisa Layman says they will start moving all their equipment and all the animals to the new location. Layman says the shelter expects to be closed through Saturday, August 5th. They will not be able to check messages on the phone or Facebook starting on Monday, July 31st. She says they will announce their new location and a new opening date soon.
