Newport City Council Green Lights Rubber Ducks
The Newport City Council was busy last night for their June meeting. One of the first orders of business was to approve the city’s 2021-22 budget and they also approved the final reading of an amendment in that budget for the Newport Grammar School.
The council hired a new firefighter as well to fill a vacancy that was open in the Newport Fire Department.
Council members also gave the green light to the Cocke County High School Boosters Club for them to hold a Rubber Duck Race to raise funds for the Cocke County basketball team. The go ahead was also given for a concert to be held on August 7th in conjunction with the Tennessee Picnic’s annual festivities. The next meeting for the Newport City Council will be on July 13th.
