Newport Driver Comes Close To A Million

We wish we could report that a millionaire is coming back to Newport from Ohio, but we can’t. Newport racing star Jimmy Owens along with Gatlinburg’s Mac McCarter were at Eldora Speedway for the Eldora Million yesterday. Jimmy Owens was one of the final 20 drivers who qualified to race for the million. However, Jimmy came up short and did not win the million, but still has the honor of being just one of 20 to race for the million dollar prize. That winning purse went to Johnny Davenport of Spartanburg, SC. That race did not finish till 3:45 this morning.
