Newport Man Arrested In Morristown On Drug Charges

A Newport man was arrested in Hamblen County Monday evening. Morristown police patrolling in the area of South Cumberland on Barkley Landing, saw what appeared to be a drug deal going down. An officer found 37 year old Brandon Collins of Newport and checked him for warrants, finding that Collins had been indicted on a drug charge. Collins was taken into custody, and searched, which revealed 2 grams of meth and an oxycodone pill. A narcotics officer arrived and a further search of Collins found 3 more grams of meth and over 3 grams of marijuana…plus drug paraphernalia including digital scales. Brandon Collins was transported to the Hamblen County jail on schedule II and schedule VI drug charges.
