Newport Police Charge Man With Reckless Driving
Newport police have charged a man with Reckless Driving after he took police on a chase down Hwy 411 that crossed the county line. According to police, two vehicles, a Dodge Challenger and an Audi AS4 were driving west on Hwy 25/70 at a speed of over 60 miles an hour in a 40 mph zone. The two vehicles then stopped at the red light for Hwy 411. When the light turned green, the Audi took off at a high rate of speed. A patrol cruiser gave chase as that vehicle reached speeds of 110 mph. The pursuit crossed into Jefferson County by about a mile before the driver of the Audi pulled over. He told the officer he was late for work and thought that he was doing just 80. The speed limit in that area is 55. The driver, 31 year old Timothy Marshall is now charged with reckless driving.
