Newport Police Investigating Fed Ex Theft
Newport police are investigating the theft of a ballistic vest from the Department of Corrections. Rachel Horn of the Tennessee Department of Corrections notified Newport police on Thursday that a Fed Ex package had been stolen from the Probation and Parole Office at 1000 W. Hwy 25/70. That package had not shown us, but according to the Fed Ex, had been delivered last week . The package containing a ballistic vest had to be signed for and according to Fed Ex records was signed for by a A. Green. Horn says they only person that was in the waiting area of the office at the time of delivery was a parolee by the name of Andy Earl Green. Police and Deputies along with Department of Corrections Officers tried to make contact with Mr. Green, but he was not at home and they have been unable to get in touch with him.
