Newport Police Recover Stolen Truck

Newport police spotted a pickup truck behind the Sparkle Car Wash early Wednesday morning that was staying in the same spot. Upon investigation, 2 men were spotted in the truck…the driver started up the truck as the officer approached. When told to shut the vehicle off, the driver did so…with a screwdriver. A check of the truck found it to be stolen out of Hawkins County. The two men in the truck were the driver 21 year old Nicholas Gibson and the passenger, 52 year old Charles Adams. A search of Adams revealed he was in possession of a glass narcotics pipe. Adams was charged with possession of schedule II narcotics…Gibson was charged with theft over $1,000.
