Newport Police Respond To Crash Monday

Newport police worked a wreck with injuries Monday afternoon at the intersection of US Hwy 25/70 and Old Route 411. Police determined that a 2017 Jeep Renegade driven by 31 year old Alicia Waters of Newport pulled out in front of a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by 58 year old Steven Cooper of Rancho Cucamonga, California. Waters was attempting to turn left from old 411 onto westbound 25/70 when she stated that Cooper was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash. Cooper suffered some cuts that had to be treated on scene by EMS…no one was injured in Water’s vehicle.
