Newport Police Respond To One Vehicle Accident

Newport police responded to a one vehicle accident early Sunday. 34 year old Jeremy Jones of Newport told police that he was driving on west Hwy 25/70 near the intersection with US 411 around 12:30 am Sunday when he lost control of his vehicle, veered off the left side of the roadway and struck a utility pole. When police arrived, the 2006 Ford Ranger truck was resting against the utility pol on the driver’s side. The airbag had deployed from the steering wheel due to the impact. Jones was not under the influence at the time of the crash and was not cited. He refused medical treatment.
