Ole Smoky Awards Check To Family Resource Center
Wednesday Ole Smoky Moonshine awarded a check for $50,000 to the Cocke County Family Resource Center. This is the second such donation of $50,000 Ole Smoky has provided to the shelter in 24 months. Diana Samples, Director of the Cocke County Family Resource Center, said that it is never known what needs will arise for Cocke County students. She stated the center recently paid an apartment rent for a high school student that was in need. Samples stated that it is never known what needs are going to arise and the $50,000 will go a long way to helping out.
Michael McCarter of Ole Smoky Moonshine says the popular distiller of spirits finds it important to give back to the communities that support them. McCarter points out that 60% of Ole Smoky’s work force comes from Cocke County. There are currently 400 people employed at the company’s facility in the Industrial Park area of Newport. On Tuesday, December 20th, Ole Smoky made a similar donation to “Friends Of The Smokies”. That is a donation that will be felt not only in Sevier County, but Cocke County as well.
