Pair That Left Monkeys In Hot Car In 2021 Plead Guilty
Back last summer, two people from Indiana were arrested after being found with a dead monkey in their car. Nova and David Brettell of Warsaw, Indiana reportedly left their two marmoset monkeys inside a car in the parking lot of Soaky Mountain Waterpark on June 23, 2021, leading to one of the monkeys, Kee Kee, dying and the other becoming extremely dehydrated. Police believe the monkeys were stuck in that hot car for over an hour. Yesterday the Brettels were in court in Sevier County where they pled guilty to animal cruelty charges. They were sentenced to 11 months and 29 days in the Sevier County Jail, that sentence was then suspended to time served. They are required to pay a $500 fine each…and the pair has been prohibited from owning a companion animal for 10 years.
