Parrottsville Man Shot In Hand
The Cocke County Sheriff’s office investigators are looking into the shooting of a man in Parrottsville late last week. Deputies were called to a residence in the 3300 block of Salem Road. A man claimed he had been shot during a home invasion attempt. 47 year old Jason Langford was found lying in the front yard of a home with a gunshot to his hand. The bullet had entered through his palm and out the back of his hand. Langford stated that he had recently been incarcerated in the Cocke County Jail. While there he told other inmates that he had fifty thousand dollars in cash at his residence. Langford stated that he had heard someone kick in the door to his home and went to confront them. It was at that time an unknown suspect fired one shot, hitting Langford in the hand. Deputies investigated the scene and found drops of blood leading from the patio to the kitchen where Langford had grabbed a towel to wrap around his hand. No shell casings were found at the scene. Langford, who smelled of alcohol, became irate with deputies and was transported by a friend to the Newport Medical Center instead of waiting for an ambulance. Investigators attempted to get more information from Langford at the hospital but he was not cooperative. There are no suspects at this time in that shooting.
