Passengers Order Driver To Not Stop During Attempted Traffic Stop
A warrant has been issued for a man who evaded arrest on Tuesday in Cocke County. A Cocke County deputy had spotted a Honda Civic on Highway 73 being driven by Hank Belcher, known to have a suspended license. When a traffic stop was initiated, Belcher refused to stop. When Belcher did finally pull over, a passenger in the front seat jumped out and fled on foot. A second passenger, 50 year old Edna Brown told deputies she did not know who the passenger that fled was. Brown finally did tell deputies that the man who ran from the car was her boyfriend, 35 year old James Kelley Moore.
Belcher told deputies that Moore and Brown yelled at him to not the stop the vehicle during the pursuit. Edna Brown has been charged with Obstruction of Justice. James Kelley Moore was wanted on a Felony Parole Violation in Knoxville. He is now charged with Evading Arrest and remains at large.
