Plane Crash That Killed Popular Dirt Track Driver Ruled Suicide
The National Transportation Safety Board today released their findings into the plane crash that killed a popular dirt track driver last summer. Back on August 16, 2024 around 7:50am, a single engine Piper J3 plane crashed into a barn near Mooresburg in Hawkins County. At the controls of the plane was 60 year old award-winning dirt track race car driver Scott Bloomquist. He was the only one on board the plane. The NTSB said in their finding that the plane crash has been ruled a suicide as it appears that Bloomquist intentionally flew the plane into the side of the barn. Investigators say that the year before the crash, Bloomquist had been diagnosed with prostate cancer. The family issued a statement via Fox Sports that they are not making any public statements about the findings by the NTSB and they request privacy during this difficult period.
