Police Arrest Man For Domestic Asssault

Police arrested a man late Friday night in Newport after he got violent with his mother. An officer spoke with 52 year old Cynthia Shelley who stated her son, 22 year old Irvin Ogle had begun an argument with her and then started hitting the stove in the kitchen, before punching his fists through a glass pantry door…cutting his hands. Cynthia Shelley’s husband, Daniel Shelley removed her from the kitchen for her own safety. Irvin Ogle was found on Mineral Street not far from the home where the incident occurred. His hands were bloody from punching the glass door. He was taken into custody and while being transported to jail to be charged with domestic assault and vandalism, he made a threat to kill Daniel Shelley. He also faces a charge of public intoxication.
