Police Called Out To Best Western

Wednesday night police were called to the Best Western in Newport regarding a man and woman fighting in the parking lot. When police arrived they found the female subject sitting in a 2016 silver Dodge Charger with North Carolina plates. She was told by police to go to her room at the motel and stay there for the rest of the night. Less than 2 hours later police were called back as the woman had not only left her room, she had left the motel. Police caught her driving back into the Best Western parking lot. The woman, 43 year old Shonda White had been drinking and smelled of alcohol. She failed three field sobriety tests she was given and had a blood alcohol content of .138…well over the legal limit of .08. White was arrested at that point and transported to jail for DUI.
