Police Called To Accident In Newport Towne Center Parking Lot

Newport police were called to the Newport Towne Center parking lot over the weekend after an impaired driver caused an accident. The accident happened in front of Marshall’s. A witness watched as a red Honda Civic entered the parking lot and struck a gold Ford Contour in the rear before driving off. The witness stated that what caught her eye and ear was the Honda Civic was missing the front right tire, which made quite a it of noise. The driver of the Civic came to a stop in front of the Dollar Tree. That is where police found 37 year old Kristopher Zieger. He was found to be under the influence and his license had been revoked back in 2021. He also had a warrant for his arrest in Jefferson County. Zieger was transported to the Cocke County jail, charged with DUI among his other charges.
