Police Respond To 2 Different Disturbances
Police arrested a man Friday morning after he caused a disturbance at the Quality Inn on Cosby Hwy in Newport. Employees say that numerous guests reported a man in Room 109 yelling and cursing. When staff went to the room, the observed 39 year old Samuel Mosely pointing what appeared to be a firearm at the bed. Police arrived and found Mosely in the room smelling strongly of alcohol. Mosely refused to cooperate with police and was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct for disturbing the peace.
Police arrested a man early Saturday after his mother stated that he pulled a knife out of a kitchen drawer during an argument. The woman stated that she was afraid enough of the situation to lock herself in her bedroom and call police. The responding officer spoke with 27 year old Brandon Taylor who admitted to taking a large knife out of the kitchen drawer. He clamed that he placed the knife not towards his mother but towards himself showing a threat to harm himself in an effort to get attention. He has been charged with aggravated domestic assault.
