Police Respond To Woman Found Dead

Sunday, police responded to the Quality Inn on Cosby Hwy in Newport. A man called police saying he woke up to find his wife in bed beside him…dead. Officers spoke with 64 year old Ricky Ledford who stated that he and his wife…52 year old Lisa Ledford…had gone to bed around midnight Saturday night. He woke up Sunday morning and his wife was purple in color with no pulse. He told police he attempted mouth to mouth resuscitation to no avail. Officers observed a jar of Naloxone and a needle on the dresser below the television. Ledford was asked if his wife ever used narcotics and he stated that she ” was supposed to have quit” but did have a history of drug use including heroin. Detectives are investigating that death.
