Police Respond To Wreck With Injuries

Police responded to a wreck with injuries Saturday afternoon. The accident happened on west Hwy 25/70 near the KOA Campground. Police say a silver van had ben struck by another vehicle which had fled the scene. A nurse coming by rendered first aid to the driver of the van, who had to be transported to the UT Medical Center in Knoxville. The driver of the other vehicle was found with his wrecked vehicle at Wal-Mart in Newport. 50 year old Randal Brown was found to be in possession of 109 grams of marijuana. Brown was charged with possession of drugs and was also driving on a revoked license or suspended license.
