Roads To Close In Cherokee National Forest For The Winter
Cherokee National Forest officials announced on Monday the dates that they will close roads in the forest for the winter in the north zone of the forest, which includes Cocke and Greene counties. Big Clifty, Meadow Creek Mountain, and Weaver Bend Roads will all close this Friday, December 20. Those roads will remain closed till March 18.
Forest officials close these roads for the winter to protect wildlife habitat, decrease wildlife disturbance, reduce road maintenance costs and for the public’s safety.
Middle and Chestnut Ridge Roads in the forest are also closed, but they are under construction till sometime next spring.
