Scammers At Hard Work

Criminals and scammers are hard at work these days, here’s another example. The Cocke County School system notified the sheriff’s office this week that one of their employees had their paycheck stolen. School system officials say that an employee at Bridgeport Elementary school had their e-mail hacked. The hacker then sent an e-mail to the central office requesting a change in their direct deposit. The hacker was then able to get the direct deposit account information changed to another bank account number, thus being able to steal the employee’s paycheck. That incident is under investigation.
