Sevier County Couple Indicted For Tax Evasion
A Sevier County couple are in hot water with the Tennessee Department of Revenue. William and Leah Laboy surrendered to authorities on Monday after being indicted with felony tax evasion. Authorities say that the pair filed false sales tax returns for Chapmanās Restaurant from January 2016 through July 2018. The Department of Revenue says they failed to send $128,872 in taxes to the state. The Tennessee Department of Revenue is pursuing criminal charges against the Laboys in conjunction with District Attorney Jimmy Dunn’s office. They’re bond was set at $10,000 each and if found guilty could spend a maximum of two years in jail and fines up to $3,000.
