Shoplifter Faces Multiple Charges
A call to police about a shoplifter turned into a little more for the suspect. Wal-Mart loss prevention in Newport contacted police about a female subject who had been tag-switching items in the store, and then skip-scanning items at the self-checkout. The female had given the loss prevention officer a correctional release Identification card belonging to Ms. Kristina Driggers and passed herself off as the same. However, when police arrived, they identified the woman as 36 year old Nicole Sexton. Police believed she was under the influence of a narcotic at the time of her arrest.
Upon arrival at the Cocke County jail, Sexton had gotten one hand out of her handcuffs and attempted to run, she assaulted the officer by among other things, biting him on the hand. A search of Sexton’s purse turned up 2 grams of Methamphetamine and a syringe with multiple baggies and filters associated with drug use. Sexton was also found to be wanted on numerous charges in Greene and Grainger Counties. Sexton is charged with Possession of Schedule II narcotics; Escape; Evading Arrest; Assault On A Police Officer; Identity Theft; and Theft.
