Single Vehicle Accident Leads to DUI Arrest

Newport police responded to a one vehicle accident Friday night on Bryant Street. A gray Ram pickup had crashed through rocks bordering the roadway and had landed in a grassy area. Broken beer bottles were visible in the crash area around the truck. The driver of the truck had several cuts to his arm and face but refused medical transport. The man was identified as 26 year old Brandon Taylor, who originally told police he was not the driver…but that turned out to be not so. Taylor failed several field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI…his license had also been suspended out of Sevier County in December of 2021.
