Single Vehicle Crash Damages Utility Pole and Fire Hydrant

Newport police looking for the driver involved in a one vehicle crash Monday night. This happened in the 500 block of Morrell Springs Road in front of the Grease Rack Restaurant. A witness told police that a white Nissan Sentra went off the roadway and then struck the guide wires for a utility pole and then a fire hydrant. The driver of the vehicle then drove off. Damage was done to both the utility pole and the fire hydrant leading to Newport Utilities to be notified. So far, the driver of that white Nissan Sentra had not been located.
