State Could Outlaw Cold Beer Sales
When you go into a convenient store or even the grocery store, you eventually walk by coolers containing cold beer. If a proposed bill becomes law, you won’t be seeing those. Legislation making its way through the Tennessee General Assembly, would forbid beer permit holders from selling cold beer. The purpose of the proposed law is to cut down on drunk driving and deaths related to driving while intoxicated. So far, that bill has made it through its first two considerations in the senate and now heads to committee. It still has a long way to go before it could be passed. In fact, a similar bill was introduced in the house last week, but it has now been pulled by its sponsor.
Convenient Stores are coming out against the proposed legislation. Many believe if sales of cold beer are outlawed, many convenient stores will not be able to survive and will go out of business.
