Stolen Gun Recovered

A traffic stop in Newport Saturday night resulted in the recovery of a stolen firearm. A white Honda Accord had been pulled over on West Hwy 25/70 for having no taillight. The driver was 36 year old Robert Zolna of Bybee, who was found to be driving on a revoked license. When Zolna told Cocke County deputies he had nothing illegal in his car and that they could search, deputies found a magnetic box under the steering wheel. Inside the box was a Kel-Tec .380 handgun with six rounds in the magazine. Zolna told deputies he had purchased the gun a couple weeks earlier. However, a check on the gun was found to be stolen out of Greene County from an 82 year old man who lives in Mosheim. Zolna is now charged with theft of property.
