SWAT Called To Domestic Assault With Gunfire
Cocke County deputies had to take cover behind their vehicles when they responded to a call in the early hours of Monday June 14th. Deputies were originally called out to a residence on Giles Road in Cosby for a possible domestic assault with gunfire. A neighbor told deputies that he heard arguing in the home followed by gunshots. Deputies took cover when they heard gunshots coming from the backyard of the residence. At one point the suspect Timothy Profitt came out of the residence brandishing a handgun and refused to surrender to police. SWAT was dispatched to the scene. After several hours the home was gassed and Profitt came out with a female subject Lauren Gabbard. Profitt was forced to the ground by SWAT…he was checked out at the ER at his request before being transported to jail along with Gabbard. Profitt had been charged reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon and has been charged with vandalism as some of the bullets hit the neighboring property doing nearly $700 of damage.
