TBI Report Shows Slight Decrease In Crime
Hard to believe when you hear the news, but crime is actually down…at least it was last year…that’s according to a report released yesterday from the TBI. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation released their 2021 Crime In Tennessee report. That report showed a decrease in crime from 2020 to 2021. Across the state, overall crime saw a slight decrease of 1.38% from the year before. The report is broken down into two crime groupings. Group A is serious or violent crimes like drug offenses, armed robbery and of course murder. Group B offenses include things like disorderly conduct and DUIs. According to the report the month last year with the most group A crimes as July with 45,550 arrests. The month with the fewest group A crimes was February of 2021 with 35,453.
Possession or sales of methamphetamine saw a significant increase in 2021, going up by nearly 20%. Juvenile arrests were also up…increasing over 30% from 2020 to 2021.
