TDOT Will Halt Lane Closures For The Holiday Weekend
TDOT has a Thanksgiving gift for travelers in Tennessee. The Tennessee Department of Transportation has announced they will halt all short term lane closures on state highways and interstates for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend coming up. However long term lane closures will remain in place for drivers’ safety. TDOT will halt the short term lane closures starting next Wednesday at noon and that will go through midnight Sunday night November 28th. AAA expects an increase in Thanksgiving Day travel of 13% over Thanksgiving 2020 when many were forced to stay at home due to the Covid-19 pandemic. AAA says more than 53 million Americans could be traveling next weekend. In Tennessee, AAA says 1.2 million people are expected to hit the road for the holiday weekend.
