Threat Made Against Cocke County HS On Social Media

Thursday, The Cocke County Sheriff’s office and Newport police investigated a social media post that several students were talking about “shooting up Cocke County High School” on Friday. Both departments increased their presence at the school on Thursday. A juvenile was arrested on the school grounds yesterday for carrying a keychain with a fake gun attached to it. That youth was placed in a juvenile detention center in Knox County pending a juvenile hearing. The Cocke County Sheriff’s office stated that threats of any kind against schools in the county would not be tolerated.
