Three Injured In Crash On I-40

Three people were injured Tuesday night in a crash on Interstate 40 in Cocke County. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, around 10:30 pm, 68 year old Charles Powell was driving a Ford F-150 pickup eastbound on I-40 and near MM 429, he crossed the median and went into the westbound lanes driving the wrong way. He continued eastbound in the westbound lanes until MM 438 when he struck a 2014 Dodge Caravan head on and both vehicles came to rest in the inside lane. Powell was injured in the crash as well as Michaella Thompson, who was driving the Dodge Caravan. A juvenile passenger traveling with her was also injured. Charges are pending against Powell.
