TN Dept Of Revenue Hosting Sales Tax Refund Webinar for Helene Victims
The Tennessee Department of Revenue is going to be hosting a webinar next week for those affected by Helene. The Department of Revenue wants victims of the flood or any other natiural disaster to know there are sales tax refunds of up to $2,500 that are available to Tennesseans who purchased major appliances, residential furniture, or residential building supplies because their primary residence was damaged or destroyed by a natural disaster in Tennessee. During the webinar, Department of Revenue staff will be going over topics such as who qualifies, what items qualify, and how to request the refund. Storm victims have one year after receiving their FEMA decision letter to apply for a refund.
Revenue Commissioner David Gerregano says the department wants to make sure storm victims receiving individual assistance from FEMA are aware that this tax relief is available to them and that there is still time to apply. The Natural Disaster Sales Tax Refund program on happens on Tuesday September 30 at 10 a.m. ET.
You can register for the webinar by going to the website: https://www.tn.gov/revenue/taxpayer-education/tax-webinars.html.
