TN Invites Students To Enter Civics Essay Contest
The state of Tennessee has announced the 2026 Civics Essay Contest for Tennessee students. Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett says “Tennesseans have a celebrated and storied history of leadership and service to our great nation. Our nation’s semi-quincentennial celebration in 2026 is an appropriate occasion to reflect on those contributions.” Students engaging in the essay contest will write an essay about the state’s contributions to the nation as it gets ready to celebrate its 250th birthday next summer. Essays must be submitted by February 20.
The contest is open to all All K-12 students. Up for grabs in the essay contest is a scholarship. Winners will receive a TNStars 529 College Savings Program and also a trip to the State Capitol in March. First place winners in each grade will receive a $500 scholarship, second place will win $250, and third place will win $100.
