TN Lawmakers Respond To Assassination Attempt
Lawmakers from the state of Tennessee were quick to respond after the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania Saturday afternoon. Governor Bill Lee asked for prayers for Donald Trump and his family as well as all those whop attended the rally Saturday. US Senator Bill Hagerty stated that former President Trump is the strongest person he knows.
US Rep. Diana Harshbarger stated that by the Grace of God, the former President had survived. She also expressed concern on how the shooter was able to get that close with Secret Service personnel on the scene. The building the shooter was on was about 130 yards from the former president’s podium.
State Representative Jeremy Faison was much more blunt in his response saying “The party of “tolerance, equity, and inclusion” is responsible for an attempted assassination on a Presidential candidate. THIS is what’s on the ballot this November.”
The Republican National Convention begins Monday in Milwaukee. The Secret Service Director, Kimberly Cheattle, says they are comfortable with their plan of security at the convention and will not change any of their plans after Saturday’s attempt on the life of the former president. Donald Trump is expected to be officially be named the Republican nominee and will accept the nomination on Thursday. Those close to Trump say he is rewriting his acceptance speech to try to unify the country.
