TN Unemployment Rate Unchanged In May
Tennessee’s unemployment rate stayed unchanged for the month of May. Just as in April, the unemployment rate for May was 3.5%. According to the Department of Labor and Workforce Development, between April and May, total nonfarm employment decreased by 1,800 jobs in the state. The largest declines were in the Professional and Business Services sector, followed by the Financial Activities sector and the Trade, Transportation, and Utilities sectors.
A year ago, the unemployment rate was 3.2% in May 2024. Still, Tennessee’s unemployment rate of 3.5% remains below the U.S. rate, which was 4.2% in May.
