Traffic Stop Ends In Drug Arrest
ON MONDAY, OFFICER JUSTIN SHELTON PULLED OVER A BMW FOR FAILING TO USE A PROPER TURN SIGNAL. THE BMW WAS DRIVEN BY DONALD MCCOY WITH PASSENGER SCARLETT SHORT. MR. MCCOY HAD AN ACTIVE ASSAULT WARRANT OUT OF HAMBLEN COUNTY, AND WAS PLACED UNDER ARREST. THE PASSENGER, SCARLETT SHORT GAVE CONSENT FOR THE OFFICER TO SEARCH HER AND HER BAGS. THE OFFICER FOUND A SMALL BAG CONTAINING 1.3 GRAMS OF A CRYSTAL LIKE SUBSTANCE THOUGHT TO BE METHAMPHITIMINE AND A SET OF DIGITAL SCALES. MS. SHORT WAS THEN PLACED UNDER ARREST. BOTH SHE AND THE DRIVER DONALD MCCOY WERE TRANSPORTED TO THE COCKE COUNTY JAIL. UPON ARRIVAL AT THE JAIL, MS SHORT WAS FOUND TO HAVE 6 GRAMS OF A CRYSTAL LIKE SUBSTANCE AND A SUBOXONE STRIP INSIDE A BODY CAVITY. SHE ALSO HAD A BAG CONTAINING 41 BLUE PILLS IN HER SOCK.
