Two Earthquakes Nearby Tuesday
The earth was moving yesterday morning…at least just a little. Two earthquakes were registered by the US Geological Survey Tuesday morning. One of those was in Grainger County. That quake was centered near Rutledge. The 2.2 magnitude quake was about 4.2 miles deep and was recorded at 3:57am Tuesday morning. So far, no one has come forward saying they felt anything with that mild quake. About 4 hours later, around 7:30am Tuesday, a second earthquake was registered in Lee County Virginia. According to the USGS, the Kentucky quake had a magnitude of 2.0 and a depth of more than 18 miles. Like the Rutledge quake, no one reported feeling any shaking.
