Two Hamblen County Sites Receive Grants
Two Hamblen County museums got a Christmas present a little early today in the form of nearly $60,000 in state grants. State Representatives Jeremy Faison and Rick Eldridge announced this morning that the Lakeway Civil War Preservation Association General Longstreet Museum received $33,665 and the Rose Center and Council for the Arts received $25,000, giving those Hamblen County sites $58,665 in grant money. That money is part of a larger $5 million appropriation approved y members of the General Assembly for the Tennessee State Museum in the 20023-24 state udget.
The funds must be used for building and land improvements, including structural changes and renovations. The projects covered by the grants have a completion deadline of June 30, 2024. that $5 million worth of grant money was spread among 108 museums across 58 counties in the state of Tennessee.
