Two Suffer Minor Injuries In Crash

Two people suffered minor injuries in a car accident at the intersection of Hwy 25/70 and Generation Drive in Newport. Jimmy Driskell told police that he was traveling eastbound on Hwy 25/70 when he approached the intersection with Generation Drive and a vehicle driven y Michael Zappas turned from the westbound lanes in front of him. Driskell stated he had the green light. Zappas told police he indeed turned from westbound 25/70 but stated he had a green arrow. The impact from the collision caused his 2017 Dodge Caravan to overturn on its side. Witnesses at the scene stated that Jimmy Driskell had the green light, and while Zappas was cited for failure to yield…neither of the two men had to be treated for their injuries.
